| Gavion is an illegitimate son of Lord Morgav of Cibola, who formally recognized him a few Turns ago. He found himself plunged into the hotbed of scheming in Cibola Castle and after putting up with it for just over a Turn, he faked his own death and ran off. He fell in with a small holdless caravan and lived with them until just recently when one of his father's agents tracked him down and forced him to return to Cibola. He has since come to suspect that Lord Morgav knew where he was all along, but has no evidence whatsoever for this suspicion. Currently, he is an assistant stablemaster, and is one of the people directly overseeing the continued breeding of the famed Cibolan bloodlines. | |
| Description: | Age: 23; Hair: Brown; Eyes: Blue; Height: 5'9" Gavion is physically not very imposing, though he does tend to stand erect and keep his chin up confidently. His face bears some resemblance to that of his father, especially with its prominent nose. The rest of his face is mildly handsome though not very memorable. He generally is seen smiling, even when events do not seem to be going his way. His hands are expressive, and he often gestures with them when speaking, especially when excited. Despite his slender build he has a certain wiry strength, and is quick on his feet. He tends to walk just a bit on his toes. |
| Origin / Inspiration: | I originally intended Gavion as a candidate to marry Lady Audri of Thornblaze, but nothing came of it, and I never even wrote him up. He sort of floated around as a ghostly idea in the back of my head until recently, when the Kadanzer Jockey Club started up again. Since Morgav doesn't get his hands dirty with such details, I needed someone else to do it for him, and Gavion pretty much leaped full-formed onto the page. |
| What he most wants: | Secretly, he wants his father to die, hoping that that will mean the end of the constant jockeying for power among his siblings. Ideally that would leave him in charge of the runner breeding program with nobody to interfere. |
| What he most fears: | That one of his half-siblings will think him a serious contender for the heirship and arrange for him to have an 'accident' of some sort. |
| If he lived on Earth: | Gavion would probably find some sort of job with a horse breeder in Kentucky or Virginia, and work his way up to a responsible position. On Pern, of course, he is the boss's son, so he didn't have to work his way into much of anything. |
