| K'bort is a blue-collar sort of guy, who doesn't concern himself too much about abstract concepts. Given a concrete task, however, he will set himself to excel at it. When on duty he is very concerned about acting correctly and doing the right thing, but he relaxes when off-duty. His goal until recently was to become the best Threadfighter that he could; this has evolved over the years from an almost reckless attitude of 'flame as much as possible' to a more mature understanding of teamwork and leadership. When he lost an arm in early 2855, he volunteered to be a Weyrlingassistant, and his first class was weyrling class 16, which was forcibly graduated early soon after the eruption of the old Weyr's mountain killed many riders. | Description: | Age: 28; Hair: Blond; Eyes: Blue; Height: 6'3" To picture K'bort, think of Dolph Lundgren as the Russian boxer in Rocky IV. Tall, muscular, slavic blond hair and blue eyes, cropped hair. In addition, of course, K'bort's right arm is missing from above the elbow, and he wears a wooden prosthetic with a bendable elbow able to be locked straight, at 45 degrees, or at a right angle. It is tipped in a blunt hook, curved about like a shepherd's crook, with a spring-loaded gripping clamp attached to the shaft. He also has some rather prominent scars on his head; they make some bald streaks in his close-cropped hair, and one of them extends almost to the corner of his left eye. The ear on that side is also missing part of its top curve. He wears wherhide or workcloth (denim) usually, and doesn't like to dress up. He wouldn't like the picture below at all; though it does look like him, he'd never pose like that because it would make him look like one of those vain, pretty-boy bronzeriders. |

A brief history of the weyrling staff at Kadanzer Weyr
When the weyrlingmaster and all his assistants died during the Poisoning of 2850, Telgar weyrlingsecond B'loren took the position and accepted Brownrider Casmir, the only female brownrider at Kadanzer, as his only Weyrlingsecond. At that time weyrling classes did not have a specific weyrlingsecond over them, and training was two Turns in length. Weyrling Class #3 was the first to be graduated on the new 19-month schedule. Bluerider L'ward joined the staff on 2852.10.21.
Weyrlingmaster B'loren died during a training accident on 2852.13.27, and Casmir also quit. Bronzerider A'nar became the new Weyrlingmaster, but he transferred back to the fighting wings on 2853.10.15 when StarRacer's Wingleader L'remi died. The next Weyrlingmaster was T'mon, though he lasted even less time, dying in the Thornblaze Quake on 2853.13.18
L'ward was appointed Weyrlingmaster at that point, and Greenrider Shahara volunteered as a Weyrlingsecond. Brownrider D'zan, having lost a leg in the Quake, soon joined them. When L'ward was gravely burned on 2854.10.09, D'zan replaced him, though L'ward returned as a Weyrlingsecond some months later after his long recovery.
Weyrlingmaster D'zan made many reforms in the training, reorganizing it to its current 18-month length and instituting the practice of placing one weyrlingseond in charge of each class. Some time around then Bluerider B'baer lost his hand and joined the weyrling staff. Headsecond Resla took charge of the candidates on 2855.01.15, and Brownrider K'bort joined the staff on 2855.05.08, after losing most of his right arm. Sometime in that period, Brownrider T'bias and Greenrider Kiriya were on staff as well; T'bias requested a transfer back out, and Kiriya had to step down when her pregnancy got too far along. Greenrider Ambri transferred in from Fort Weyr in early 2856, and Brownrider E'zok came in from Ista at the start of 2857. The latest addition to the staff is bronzerider G'nan, who joined when his bronze Takarth had to have a wing amputated because of a bad Thread injury.
