Kason was born at Delta Seahold, and apprenticed as a smith. While at the Smithcrafthall, he earned a rather contradictory reputation: on ethe one hand he was morally stiff and strait-laced with fixed ideas about right and wrong, but in the craft he was an eager innovator who constantly pushed for more freedom for apprentices to experiment on their own. Despite his talent, he was kept as an apprentice for a very long time, and finally posted to the Weyr when it became clear to Mastersmith Stefon that there was no way to keep him any longer. Once at the Weyr he had a lot of trouble adapting; his moral rigidity caused him all manner of trouble. Fortunately, now that he has been at the Weyr for several Turns, he has matured and is no longer quite so insufferably sure that he and he alone knows how people should behave. Kason is a workaholic and is always tinkering with some mechanism even when he isn't 'on the clock'. He designed K'bort's wooden arm, for instance.
Description:Age: 20; Hair: Brown; Eyes: Dark Brown; Height: 5'8
He is shorter than average but very stocky and broadly built. His arms are corded with a smith's muscles, but otherwise he looks more like a heavyweight wrestler than a bodybuilder. His facial bone structure is quite prominent; his jaw is heavy and jutting, his brow is thick, and his nose is a large bony chunk. His hair is short, dark brown, and mostly straight, though it sticks out in tufts when he's sweaty from the forge. His eyes are also dark brown, generally with dark circles under them. He has a dark tan complexion, and always has five-o'clock shadow, no matter how closely he tries to shave. Generally he wears a leather smith's apron over a sleeveless shirt and leather breeches and boots. He has a blue firelizard named Flip, who is undersized even at his full growth.
Origin / Inspiration:Kason was my first character at Kadanzer. He is based on a character I used to have on PernMUSH back in the early 90's. Kason never amounted to much on the MUSH because I was much more interested in programming than roleplaying. I'm glad to have the chance to run him again, and concentrate on him as a character rather than as an excuse to build things.
What he most wants:To be free of routine work and to have the resources to study and experiment and invent things for their own sake.
What he most fears:Being thought of as dishonorable or unreliable.
If he lived on Earth:Kason would be a freelance computer programmer or an inventor.
