| Morthen is the eldest surviving son of Lord Morgav of Cibola Hold, and along with his younger brother Esthevan is considered one of the leading contenders to succeed his father someday. Morthen serves as the Captain of Morgav's Rangers, the long arm of the law in Cibola Hold. He is a seasoned campaigner and a formidable leader; he has many Turns of experience battling bands of raiders, as well as enforcing the law upon Cibolan holders who have strayed. He has a definite bullying streak, and likes to watch people squirm in his power, but even more than that he appreciates a hard-fought combat with a well-matched opponent. | |
| Description: | Age: 35; Hair: Black; Eyes: Grey; Height: 6'0" Morthen is solidly and massively built, but for all of that he is surprisingly light on his feet. He dresses in a plain working uniform of the Rangers, perhaps in a deliberate effort to be different from his flashy younger brother. |
| Origin / Inspiration: | The son of Morgav I imagined first was Esthevan, originally envisioned as a clone of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen from Dune, and so naturally I had the idea of using Feyd's older brother Rabban as the basis for another of Morgav's sons. However, Morthen is much more intelligent and formidable than Rabban ever was; he, even more so than his brother, has grown far beyond the original idea and taken on a life of his own. |
| What he most wants: | To succeed his father as Lord of Cibola, preferably defeating his brother Esthevan in some permanent manner along the way. |
| What he most fears: | That his father will not name him heir. |
| If he lived on Earth: | He would be an officer in the army, working his way up towards general and with his sights set on a political career. |
