| Ryuri is a confident young woman. Born at Fort Weyr and moved with her family to Kadanzer after the Poisoning, Ryuri has been a candidate since the age of twelve. Until fairly recently, this didn't bother her; she enjoyed working as a minecraft apprentice and knew that a dragonrider's life was far from what the harper songs portrayed. But when the Weyr moved from the mountains to the tropical shore, there was suddenly very little for a minecraft apprentice to do. She spent most of her working hours doing general chores and hoping to Impress so she won't have to leave all of her friends to pursue her craft in some cold northern Weyr. Luckily she Impressed brown Ceorth, somewhat to her surprise. She is generally a happy person, and friendly to most people, though she has little patience for holdbreds who have trouble adapting to weyrlife, and small tolerance for fools in general. She enjoys competitive sports, especially netball. | |
| Description: | Age: 20; Hair: Blond; Eyes: blue; Height: 5'5" Ryuri is lean and athletically built, with arm and shoulder muscles well developed from her craft. She keeps her hair short and generally dresses in loose shorts or pants, and short-sleved or sleeveless tunics. After all, you never know when you might run into a netball game at Kadanzer! |
| Origin / Inspiration: | I adopted Ryuri for a specific purpose in a storyline which ended up falling through, but as with so many of my other characters, she took on a life of her own. A funny thing happened in January 2005: I started watching the new Battlestar Galactica series on the Sci Fi channel, and the first time Starbuck came on the screen I took one look and thought, "That's Ryuri!" (Yes, yes, Starbuck is a woman in the new series, get used to it already.) This is giving me lots of new inspiration for the character. |
| What she most wants: | To survive weyrling training and somehow still have time for fun on the side. |
| What she most fears: | Getting killed in training or Threadfall. |
| If she lived on Earth: | Ryuri would be a professional beach volleyball player, most likely, but be studying geology on the side! |
