             Persona in brief  
             D'zan -- M, H=brown, E=blue, HT=6'4''.
            D'zan is a steady, practical, and self-sufficient man. Methodical
            and efficient, he is intensely dedicated to his Weyr and his
            Weyrwoman and is well known for his stubborn temper, his willingness
            for hard work, and for speaking his mind. Father of Tori, Daran,
            Barton, Marnia and Zanara, brother of Darby, uncle of Kip; owned
            by Mama Cat; rider of brown Yoseth.

             What's important to know about this
            character:  
             He's never met a cup of klah he wouldn't
            drink.  

            Character inspiration/history:  
            Ginny & Anna (who founded the club)
            asked me as they were finishing their intro stories "Of
            Endings..." and "...Of Beginnings" if I would
            join their new Weyr. At the time, I was helping get Kindis Weyr
            off the ground and was pretty busy with that, but figured I'd
            join with a grunt persona for Kaz as a favor to Anna and Ginny.
            To be honest, I thought the club's opening scenario painful and
            ridiculous (an entire Weyr, killed by food poisoning!), and figured
            that any persona I made for them would be throw-away effort who
            I'd never do squat with. Famous last words there. I read the
            opening two stories Anna & Ginny had written, asked them
            the gruesome question "Who cleaned up all of those bodies?",
            and got the answer "I don't know. If you want to deal with
            that, go for it..."

            And thus D'zan was born. Blue-collar, often
            foul-mouthed, unhandsome, a holder's son and a survivor of the
            Poisoning. I always fancy that D'zan's early role in the Weyr
            was to sweep up after the idealism of Weyrleader K'rel and of
            the Weyrleader's sister, goldrider Lauria.

            I've always been a big fan of the actor
            Clancy Brown (Buckaroo Banzai, The Bride, Highlander, Starship
            Troopers); his character of John Danziger of the TV series
            Earth2 was a major inspiration as well.

            It's been a lot of fun for me to watch
            this persona develop through the past several years. D'zan's
            loved, lost, fathered a few children, had a leg rot off, has
            been wingrider, wingsecond, Weyrsecond and even Weyrleader before
            having been regulated to that ninth ring of hell commonly known
            as the Weyrling Wing... It's amazing to see these characters
            take such a life of their own! 

              When you visit this persona's
            weyr, what do you find?  
            D'zan currently lives in the Weyrlingmaster's
            quarters at the Weyrling Complex, in the cottage commonly referred
            too as "the Lair." The main room of the cottage is
            the Weyrlingmaster's office, and the smaller, second room is
            his personal quarters. He's surprisingly neat. Spartan -- doesn't
            particularly collect stuff, and if he hasn't worn it or used
            it in the past few months, it's given away or sent into storage
            for someone else's future use.  

             If this character were a dog, what
            kind of dog would he/she be?  
              If D'zan were to turn into an
            animal tomorrow, this brownrider would be a solid bullmastif/Rottweiler
            mix -- big, ugly, territorial, extremely protective of what's
            his, and probably in need of a slop rag to pretty up his chin.
