Lord Gibran of Drake Hold; art by Viki Sinex; last updated 12/03/02
Persona in brief Lord Gibran: M, H=blond, E=blue, HT=5'11" (but thinks himself taller). Gibran is an ambitious, supremely confident, and extremely intelligent man with a taste for politics, intrigues, and challenges of any sort. A skilled musician, singer, and songwriter, as well as player of dragonchess. Wife Lady Cevana; sister-in-law Lady Jerial, nephew Heir Elrial, niece Naralion. Two firelizards, green Gabi and bronze Marius.
You can view a full CIS for this persona from the Kadanzer Weyr's website (www.kadanzer.org)
What's important to know about this character: He's a student of Machiavelli... Character inspiration/history Sting -- oh boy, that man is my own personal lust god! Or, a little less hormonally -- in Jungian terms, I'd say that my fascination with the musician Sting is an animus projection. He's a good cure for writer's block: I watch this man or listen to his music, and my creative juices start flowing!
I originally created this persona (then called G'bryl) as a wingleader at Southern A10P in 1990. He was actually scheduled to become Weyrleader, but the then-owner of the club disappeared off the face of the earth. In order to keep our Pern characters active, my friend Tia and I then created Kindis Weyr, where G'bryl was again given a turn at Wingleader before taking over as Weyrleader. Unfortunately, I suffered creative burnout at Kindis long before G'bryl got that Weyrleadership, and left the club with orders that G'bryl died in his sleep of a heart attack (or, at least, in bed of a heart attack...) I revised him for Kadanzer as Gibran, a Lord Holder this time -- it seemed I could have more fun with him here as a holder... after all, been there/done that with bronzeriders...
When you visit this persona's suite of rooms, what do you find? Gibran's quarters are surprisingly spartan -- he's got a lot of stuff, but it's pretty well all kept out of sight in the wardrobe closet, in the storage chests, behind the rolltop of the ironwood writing desk. Various musical instruments -- several guitars, a standing bass, etc. -- rest in stands about the room. Two glass doors open out onto a veranda, facing a the waterfall that cascades down the cliffside Drake Hold is carved out of. He's kept his own quarters, rather than moving into the suite of rooms Lord Novran held (and which are still occupied by the Lady Jerial).
Lady Cevana has her own rooms next door.
If this character were a dog, what kind of dog would he/she be? An Irish Wolfhound. Don't ask me what the connection there is -- just seems to fit...
